friends only
*waves*

I've decided to go friends only. No drama I'm afraid, just would rather know who's around.

here is the original artpad banner, sans cock socks.

Anyhow, I wont be going back to lock all my old posts so feel free to poke around to see a general idea of what goes on here. Mostly silly drawings, strange links, and rambling introspective emo posts.

I'm always happy for new friends, but probably won't friend empty journals. Stop by and say hallo and we'll take it from there :)

If you're just looking for my drawings, feel free to friend
[info]yaarart *hugs the flist*

*loves*

Many thanks to the lovely [info]jo_ron for the banner!

ENGLISH SPEAKERS NEEDED *is capslocky to draw attention here*

Hey guys.

I need some help with data for my Linguistics seminar paper. If you are a native speaker of English (Queen's or otherwise) please please (please!) do me a favour and answer the poll below. It's a judgement task - just say the sentence to yourself and see if it sounds "good" (as in, yes, that sounds like good English to me) or "bad" (as in ack! no one would say that). No need to put much thought into it, just give your gut reaction.

Any further comments would be helpful if you have them, but really all I need is the judgements. Will be leaving this unlocked as well if you feel like pointing anyone here.

Thanks!

The judgement is in regards to the second sentence (marked with a *star)

knock knock.
I found a massive list of short jokes, here are the ones that made me actually giggle:

  • A naked man wrapped in saran wrap walks into a shrinks office. the shrink looks at him and says “I can clearly see you’re nuts”

  • Why did the absurdist cross the road?
                FISH!

  • A baby seal walks into a club.

  • Why does Snoop Dogg carry an umbrella? Fo’ Drizzle.

  • Q: What do you do with a wombat?

                A: Play wom.

  • Masochist: Hurt me!
                Sadist: No.

  • Two cows are standing in a field. One says to the other “You know, I’m a bit worried about this mad cow disease that’s been going around.” The other replies, “I’m not, I’m a helicopter.”

  • A mushroom walks into a bar

The bartender says “We don’t serve your kind in here.”
The mushroom says “Why not? I’m a fungi.”

  • What’s the difference between roast beef and pea soup?

                Anyone can roast beef.

*shifty eyes* What?? I'm writing my paper. This is all part of my research. Yeah, research...

linkalicious
I had to be like all the cool kids and post my own battle cry, if only for the "jeweled meat hammer" that I use *is stylish murderer*

And I have a bazillion new links to share with everyone because I am very "busy" "writing" my paper for my Feminist theory class... Procrastination can be so fruitful at times. (btw if any of you have read Margaret Atwood's short story "Bluebeard's Egg" and have some fascinating idea to share with me I'm all for it. I'm writing about gender issues revisited in modern renditions of fairy tales...).

Breakfasty stuff:
  • Breakfast food pillows. How could I resist anything toast related?? Check out the pancakes for all you tossers.
  • An alarm clock that makes your bacon as well... *blinks* I'm not sure I'd want to keep a piece of uncooked bacon next to my head while I sleep. It just kinda freaks me out on a weird level. Must be my inner SuperJew.
  • Not exactly breakfast, but if we're already talking about bacon.... Happy year of the pig everyone, here are some crazy pig shaped sushi things for all your new years celebrations.
Designy / "useful" / arty stuff:
  • I don't actually own many buttons, but I always see them in various places and think to myself, that would be cool to pin on my bag. Anyhow, a bunch of cool buttons.
Silly / Funny:
  • YAYAYAYAY!!! The trailer for the new Simpsons movie is out. I love the Simpsons, and have loved them since they appeared as those wonky badly drawn characters on the Tracy Ullman show.

Check out my icon *giggles*. I love jocap.

How many post titles can one think of using the word link? *(b)links*
Just another linky post. Enjoy :)

Toast!
  • Although this is some iffy looking bread, the crust cutter is a cool idea for kiddies and those adults who just don't like the hard bits of the bread. (Random Hebrew Trivia - a popular "army" saying here in Israel when you (presumably a soldier) say (whine) "But it's hard!" is to answer back "There is only Hard in bread." Yeah, not sure that translated well. /random HT)
Kids (?)
  • Find your inner child and use this crayon-shaped pen to sign all your important documents.
  • Lego shaped "fun snacks". Now I'm not sure if these are jelly sweets or hard candy or what, but OMG they're shaped like LEGO. I could BUILD things with it!

Cool/Weird/Freaky

I'm supposedly writing 2 papers this week and finishing Pierre and Dracula, so I might not be around as much (ha ha.) so sorry for those of you in line for art requests. It'll happen bit by bit, promise :)

ETA: *gigglesnort* I was looking around that site that linked the pirate toaster and found this brick and was all "WTF?" until I got the brilliant idea of using babel fish. Hee, so useful:

is a looking amazingly realistic house component made of foam material and originally comes from the filmbranche. We see its future however rather as fun product, in order to in-hunt for friends a due fright. If you take this stone into the hand, do in such a way as if it are more genuine and you throw it to a friend or a friend. Observe exactly the reaction. It is simply wonderful....

*observes exactly the reaction*

Because [info]auntee_mame asked for it.

Not that I can draw, but I can be silly. I know silly. Just a quick doodle, minus the Wizard of Oz himself...

I will be getting back to your requests now :D

Gacked from [info]amieam because I am seriously bored silly

1. Grab the nearest book. (Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.)
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Tag 5 people. If you want to...

The book is Pierre by Herman Melville, king of run-on sentences. I'm only on page 28 (out of 504) even though I have to finish it in 2 weeks. I guess I'll be spoiled now ;)

Icy-cold, and serpent-like, it had overlayingly crawled in upon his other shuddering imaginings; but those other thoughts would as soon upheave again, and absorb it into themselves, so that it would in that way soon disappear from his cotemporary apprehension. The prevailing thoughts connected with Isabel he could front with prepared and open eyes; but the occasional thought of Lucy, when that started up before him, he could only cover his bewildered eyes with his bewildered hands. Nor was this the cowardice of his selfishness, but the infinite sensitiveness of his soul.

Yeah, so that  maybe makes it *seem* like it's interesting, but I can tell you now that at least till page 28 it's mostly squicky, and boring. (strange that that combination is even possible...)

I'll tag

Requests for Art
Hear ye hear ye.

For this Valentines Day I am opening up requests for so-called Yaara-Art.

Feel free to request anything you like in the comments - if you want one of those portrait drawings all the cool kids have then a photo reference could help, but isn't necessary, and I can do fannish stuff as well (nothing too elaborate though since I can't really draw...). Make sure to let me know if you prefer the more cartoony style (which I personally think I'm better at) or the semi serious style, like this icon.

You can browse the mspaint/artpad tags down below to see examples of my stuff.

Merlin on a trike, I'm a fan artist!
So, a while back [info]maple_mahogany suggested I draw the DA at the DOM... This got me thinking and eventually led to this here drawing. I had to go and add Ron's brain-scars in though so it's now a scene from Book 7. I am actually hoping the DA will reunite in DH at some point, if only to give Luna and Neville some action. That would be a good time for Neville to off Bellatrix as well...

Anyhow, click the funky thumbnail pic and then click it again (and again) till you get the big version to see the details... Remember that I'm using the crappy MsPaint, and nothing but my trusty mouse and mad wrist control skillz.

Please (!) let me know what you think, as I am all a-wibble about this.......

ETA: icon by the lovely jocap! She completes me.

Merlin on a tricycle, that's a lotta links!! *attempts assimilation of saying*
Links in no particular order. Enjoy :)

  • Ever play a vigorous game of Jewish Bingo? Yeah. Me neither. I hope this doesn't revoke my SuperJew status.
  • More jelly/jello - this time cubed coffee. Hmm. Not so sure about that.
  • This isn't brilliantly done (trying too hard to be funny and failing in some points) but these Stupid Comics are worth a look for a giggle.
  • Interesting design for wine glasses. Though the description is a bit full of bs.

:)

Sunday Meme-age
Firstly, as the loverly [info]mrsquizzical  from whom the gacking has been done said: OMGWORDS! So if you have a moment, go here and tell me what you think :)

Secondly, one of my cool new friends  [info]nattieb  (*waves*) gave me questions for this meme:

RULES:
1. Leave me a comment saying "Interview me". (If you want to, of course! No pressure at all.)
2. I respond by asking you five questions of a very intimate and creepily personal nature (or not so creepy/personal).
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, ask them five questions.

the questions and my answers ) Hope you're all enjoying your weekend - mine is woefully coming to an end much too quickly but c'est la vie. No rest for the wicked and all that ;)

zomg omgwtfbbq!!!11

ARGH, I am SO busy today and there is so much lj-ing I still want to do today, but I'm on my way out *kicks RL*

I just had to stop and show you the WONDERFUL rendition of "Deathly Hallows" made by the fantabulous

jocap, for those of you who don't have her on your flist yet.

*lol*

also a huge *tackleglomphug* to [info]magnolialane who I noticed is back from her hiatus *tackleglomphugs some more*.

I'm going to go make a quick TMI post you-know-where (if you don't know where - shame on you!) and then I gotta go drink coffee with silly people who actually exist outside my computer.

Yeah, pff! "real" people. HA! Have you even seen the semi nekkid equus pictures? Do you even KNOW the release date for book 7? If I tell you about my tinkering with ideas to draw fanart of the DA at the DOM at the end of OOTP after being asked about it on my LJ will you do anything but boggle? Will you even KNOW what boggle means??

*boggles for good measure*

*yawns*, *scratches self*, *posts*
The promised linky post. I'm not in the mood to categorize, so I'm just listing them according to the order they are up in my browser tabs:

  • Wonderbra has a photo campaign that I find pretty clever. Dunno how I'd like to be stared at so much, but they do make their point in an interesting way. (it's the first 3 photos on top here)
  • I have lots of hair, and every time I have to clear out the drain in the shower I seriously have to hold myself from puking, I have to do it with my eyes closed and pretend I can't hear the nasty sound it makes pulling up all the shite that's been collected on it. *gags just thinking about it*. This might be useful.
  • This looks a bit slutty, but really in the (few and far between) times I go out clubbing, I'm always annoyed about having to find a place to keep all my stuff and the logistics of deciding what to leave behind at home often defeat me. So this thigh bag could work for me.

-=-=-=-=-=-

I got drunk last night and stumbled home to bed and had the weirdest alcohol induced dreams. I was attacked by what apparently was a "lyger" but it just looked like a freaky huge tiger striped dog with the tiniest head you could imagine. It latched on to my bright orange fake muppet fur jacket and didn't let go.

There are SO many things wrong with that dream that I wont even go there.

I also dreamed that RL people are lurking on my lj, and that they found it through [info]fitzette . Yeah dunno what's up with that either. But I am feeling abit antsy lately about not having anything f-locked. That map thingy freaked my shit out before I realized what I kept seeing was myself bouncing off various servers around Israel, and not random other people lurking around... So I might be going friends only eventually, just to quiet down the unborn chicken voices in my head. I'll let you know of course and make you all come and post your ZOMG I IS YUR FRIENDZ, DONT CUT ME BITCH!!!!1111 comments. ;)

Have a good Wednesday people! *group hugs*

1. *squishes flist in massive hug* thank you :)

2. *points at icon* See that? It was the very first "fan art" I ever did, it was for the loverly [info]pghpatronus  and it was way back when over on MsPaint, and it was also the very first yaara/jo collaboration. Ah, memories....

Anyhow. However much I love that icon, sometimes I want to comment on lovely Harry/Ron stories that my even lovelier friends write (*looks slashingly at [info]shocolate  [info]oncelikeshari  and [info]maple_mahogany *) and find this icon a bit too... silly.

I know, ME, silly. Who'd have thunk.

So, yeah. I did a new version of the same picture.
